the spirit that fostered HESUS JOY CHRIST

LIVING THE PROPHETIC LIFE

FROM THE PARISH BULLETIN OF ST. MICHAEL ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH

- JULY 4TH, 2009

There is not one of us who has not feared being negatively judged by our peers . Destructive, rigid judgments begin when we start to compare one person to another . People with mental and physical disabilities are among those who have suffered the effects of this discrimination, which led one mental health researcher to conclude, " All human comparison is diabolical . " ( W. Wolfensberger ) Even Jesus was a victim of negative judgment, when he returned to his own hometown . You might expect old family friends to welcome him . But when they heard Jesus preach in his home synagogue, jealousy caused them to take offense: " Where did he get all this -- wisdom and mighty deeds ? Isn't this Mary's little Jesus ? ---he's getting above himself ! " They allowed their familiarity with Jesus to become contempt . We know that Jesus felt the pain of rejection, because he said, " A prophet is not without honour except in his hometown and among his own kin and in his own house . " But Jesus did not let this turn him from his vocation as a prophet . God's prophets are not fortune-tellers . They tell us how God is in relationship to us -- and they also tell us not to fear judgements based on appearances, because God sees and judges only the heart . Do we recognize our vocation as prophets ? At baptism, we were each called to be " prophet, priest and king " to the world -- including bringing God's messages to our own kind and in our very own house . It is not easy to walk the delicate line between unjust judgments and good prophetic judgment . Let's pray for a spirit not to take offense at others but to see only their beauty -- and to be able to rejoice at seeing God in all of it ! Go in peace to love and serve our God !

This is the spirit in which the HESUS JOY CHRIST animation is conceived and created . Keep this in mind as I approch the completion of HESUS JOY CHRIST - Matthew's One Too ! which is about 4 minutes including at least 2 minutes of full animation . It mentions many past friends as it looks forward .

I truly wish to honour all persons mentioned in this parabolic relation of the Gospel of Matthew Chapter One .
